Jesse Tree
The Jesse Tree represents the family tree, or genealogy of Jesus Christ . It tells the story of God's salvation plan , beginning with creation and continuing through the Old Testament, to the coming of the Messiah. The Jesse Tree is named from Isaiah 11:1: “A shoot shall come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.” Jesse was the father of King David. We adorn a Jesse Tree with illustrated ornaments that represent the people, prophesies, and events leading up to the birth of Jesus. The ornaments of the Jesse Tree tell the story of God in the Old Testament, connecting the Advent season with the faithfulness of God across four thousand years of history.
The Ark Ornament Christmas Project
This project is being sponsored by our TYKE and Kindergarten students because of their respect for all God’s creatures at Christmas. This age appropriate outreach is one that helps creatures in our local community. The deadline to participate is December 19th.

Battle of the Books
Thank you to everyone for making Thursday night's meeting such a success! We are so excited to see so much interest in the program! If you were not able to attend last night's meeting, no worries. You can still sign up! Forms are being accepted through November 19th. They can be found on setcps.com and in the front office. Just fill out a form out and turn it in to Susan. Happy reading!

America's “Battle of the Books" is a literacy incentive program that encourages our students to enjoy reading, discussing themes, and studying together. Throughout the school year, 3rd-5th graders read through a select list of books. Each month, we offer a "Book Club" night to further study, review, and discuss the reading material. All students, despite their reading levels, can participate in this competitive program. In the spring, the students form teams and compete in the annual "Battle of the Books" tournament.
